A Stoopidly Designed Road

Hi everyone,

Today I want to show you another walk - and you will get to see a tragic thing...... something that is unique to my hometown, Adelaide.

Here we are setting off for another walk in my area.

First I get to schnoofle through some longer grasses ( a fav pass-time of mine)

Then we reach the pathway - the beginning of a shared walking and bike-track.

Here's what I want to show you... it's a fairly new major road that links the outer Southern suburbs and regional areas closer to the city. You can see it's empty??? Well - some bright spark designed this road so that it's two lanes flows into the city in the mornings.....and then changes completely to have those same two lanes go South in the afternoon!! Can you believe it??? We are walking at 12:15pm and you will see there is NOTHING on the road.....NOTHING.....because they shut it down completely for two hours in the transition periods!!

My pawrents (and most people who live South) think it's a ginormous waste of the gazillions of $$$$ it cost to build it. Whenever you go to use it...it is often going the OTHER way or CLOSED!! Frustrating!!

Needless to say the politics surrounding this road is rife.....we have recently had the promise that this road will be extended and improved to allow permanent two way traffic......but it will now cost gazillions more now than designing and building it properly in the first place!!! (and some peeps say animals are stoopid......h-e-l-l-o-w....!!)

Enough of that.

The path is alright, needs more trees and bushes for rest from the sun. This is one of the rare shady bits.

And these bushes are Australian Wattle.....

Aren't they pretty?

Heading back....no bushes on this bit!

This is the bridge bit that goes over the road our car is parked on....

See, we were just on top of this curvy tunnel.

Our car is just on the other side of the tunnel. Home-time!

  1. Very strange!! Yes, they should have asked us and we would have made the road to work the way it should. WHen will they ever learn????

  2. Humans have very odd ideas about roads if you ask me - and some more than others :-)Lots of things seem to be more to do with money and politics than what is really wanted or needed. But you did have a good walk despite the road and that wattle is beautiful. Leigh tells me it's Australia's floral emblem and you have a Wattle Day in September. Hope you had a happy wattle day! Love from Magic xx

  7. That doesn't sound like a very good plan for that road...

    I like the wattles though.
