Intruder (dead bird) Edition

Hiya all,

Today I was awoken with a start....when mum let out a HUGE sneeze.....really....that woman can really SNEEZE !!.  The whole of MY bed shook! So I got up first....and headed for the outdoors so my yard and perimeter check could commence.

I headed out my doggie-door and turned right and then right again. What did I see before me????? THIS:

A dead BIRD lying in my garden!! (PeeS: For the purpose of providing you, my readers, with a visual....mum has recreated the event with my plastic quacky duck...... ) The real thing was about the same size and the peeps called it a pigeon.

I was VERY brave..... and unsure if it was actually dead...... I BARKED and BARKED and BARKED at it telling it IT WAS NOT OKAY TO SLEEP IN MY GARDEN.......

Mum had gone to get dad dad to collect the intruder (dead bird) because she didn't want to touch it. What a chicken!!

I was shaking with excitement and mum had to lure me back inside with the aid of jingling the "liver treat" jar. Mum was concerned I might get all brave and pick it up and run around with it...... AS IF! I was too bizzy telling it off!

Then dad dad came and picked it up and took it for its trip to the bridge. (Could we have made a pie out of it??? I ask myself.) I was very interested in sniffing where it had been lying.

It's not the same with the "recreated" pictures..... the real deal was much more exciting - but I wanted to include you, my friends, because it was an exciting event! I'm here to share.

  4. Great story Rubie - well recreated with the plastic duck. I can picture the pigeon 'cos we have plenty who come in our garden to drink from the pond - the cheek of it. We bark to tell them off when we see them land. Always good to have an opportunity to be lured back with liver treats :-) woofs and licks from Magic xx

  5. What a great adventure that was. Finding the bird in the yard. Mommy says she likes how you used the substitute plastic duck in the picture.

  8. Oh Rubie,
What a harrowing experience first thing in the morning. I like that you are reinacting the dead bird because we see enough of them around here and they are yucky to look at. But you did real good telling us how it all went down.

  14. I loved your reenactments! Very realistic, I almost could feel the outrage at that intruder bird. What is the boot for, is it for pooping in?

  15. Rubie, you are sooo brave!! That's so funny about your Moms sneezin' because my Ma can really sneeze, too! I bark at her because it hurts my delicate ears.BOL
I loved the recreation. You should get a job on CSI. Very life (dead) like.
Why not a pie??? VERY good question. Peeps just have no imagination, huh?!

    Kisses,

    Ruby

  16. Why I think that pigeon picked a lovely spot in your garden to die. Imagine how shaking a treat jar can get our attention.

  17. You were very smart to warn the humans of the intruder, Rubie. Best not to have picked up that dead bird. If we did that, Mom would be screaming and screaming for us all to drop it.

    We rather enjoyed the recreation:)

  18. That was exciting. And we think you were brave to stand there and tell it off. We mean, it could have been alive and just pretending!

What is it with peeps and dead stuff...they never even sniff it!

  19. Howdy Rubie, oh if only you could have ran around with it for a while. I did that once and mum and my sissy joined in running too and yelling and shouting my name (S T E L L A) with great enthusiasm. It sounds like you really gave that birdie a telling off for sleeping in your yard. We just can't understand why your mum couldn't pick up the bird when she's part chicken herself, hehehe (sorry Poots couldn't help that one!).
Have a great weekend all. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory (and Carol)

  24. Rubie that was a fascinating story and you my sweet are a very good story teller!! Well done
I have a wand toy called 'Da Bird' mom and I play with it every day. Today she was spinning it pretty fast over my head so my inner lioness let out a roar to let Mom know I needed to catch it.

  25. Hi Rubie, birds keep flying into our windows and we want to get them but the Lady won't let us. She also makes the man deal with it, she says it is mans work.

Have a great day. We hope you catch a bird. Hailey and Zaphod

  26. Oh what a way to start the day, first being awoken abruptly by the sneeze then the dead bird on your patrol, that's crazy, I think I prefer the quacky duck better than the real thing, I would just roll on the dead bird and get its wonderful smell all over my furs! You are so good and very brave to see it and sound the alarm like that, I wouldn't bark at a dead bird but I run after the ones that are alive in my garden! Love and Hugs from your Puggy Pal Frank xxxxx
