Hiya all,
As some of you will be aware, my peeps went on a houseboat hollingday down the Murray River, and I wasn't invited. (*Gasp*) So their plan was to give me to uncie (and Scarlet and Zoe) for the 4 days they were planning to houseboat for. However, uncie was already booked to go to a hollingday house owned by one his friends for a "boys weekend", so I was invited to that one (*whew*!)
I thought the ocean was a much better prospect than a smelly ol' river anyways!! (*humph*)
Now there wasn't a lot of action in the photo taking department (not like when mum is around) so there is very little photographic
Here is what I managed to scrape together:
You know you are at a seaside town when seagulls land and sit on your car. Note the initial crappy weather which made us stay indoors for the first day at Port Hughes.
We girl schnauzers had to supervise the 5 male humans for that day.
Lucky for us day two looked and was much better weathers. We talked the boys into taking us down to the beach for a romp off lead.
Can you see me about to run off at high speed - this is before the "sea-weed incident".
This line of sea-weed was the reason I ended up neck deep in the ocean. When I was running, I rushed toward it and leapt over expecting to land on sand. Instead, there was a deep bit of sea, and I got very wets.
Here we are about to exit the beach. You can see I am very dark grey, which means I am wet and the sand stucks to my furs. You can see my uncie's shadow taking this pic with his iPhone.
This scenario meant uncie had to wash me in the laundry trough back at the beach house! :-(
But that was a great beach romp anyway!
Later that night the boys made FIRE in an outside metal thingy. I had never seen this sort of thing before. The boys stood too close to it and must have got very hots - because they then had to drink a lot to cool themselves down!
But I was very brave...... see me standing with the boys.....now where is MY DRINK????? Geez!
So - sorry there is no pictures of the house or what we got up to inside it. Uncie packed our dog beds and floor cushions so we were comfy while supervising the boys. One of the boys is allergic to dogs - but because we schnauzers are very low shedding doggies, he can cope with us. Lucky - because he likes us too!
That was a peek into my holiday. Apparently mum took 87,000 pictures of her hollingday on the river. The link to their hollingday is in my sidebar - if you must! ;-)
See ya, Tail Wuggles, Rubie xxx
Looks like you had one fine time, Rubie, with the exception of the dunk in the sea and the bath afterwards. Looks like the big boys had a good time too.

I think your uncle must not have a blog since he's not used to taking thousands of pictures for every outing. Glad you were well cared for...except for not providing you with an appropriate (or not) drink at the fire.
ReplyDeleteWell, your uncle did just fine. We loved seeing your fun at the beach. We don't live very close to an ocean and we would really love to visit one. Guess we might have to move to make that happen.
ReplyDeleteMom says she is going to take a peek at your Mom's pics too:)
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Looks like a lot of fun!

ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the beach romp apart from the seaweed disaster - that sounds HORRIBLE :-( Maybe if you play for sympathy after that you might get to go on the houseboat next year after all - woofs and licks from Magic xx

I think that was a grand holiday, even the seaweed mishap. Sure, it was a startle, but it will give you great stories to tell, right?

Hey, we just had a great walk on the beach, don't all schnauzers just adore a beach walk....Susie-Belle also loves a bit of river swimming these days :) Lovely story, xx
ReplyDeleteHi Rubie - very late as usual but just catching up now on your adventures! Looks like you had a great holiday - although I have to say, it was scary reading about you jumping into the sea deeper than you thought!! And that campfire is just awesome! Just like in a storybook! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're really keen to hear about your human's holiday too...in a houseboat! How cool! Hsin-Yi is very sorry that she has been so busy she hasn't had a chance to visit Poot's blog yet - but she will definitely catch up as soon as she has the chance!
